Lynyrd Skynyrd Saratoga Performing Arts Center Concert reviews
Mixed experience
Seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd live is absolutely a must before you kick the bucket! Unfortunately, I might have waited too long. It's tough for musicians who've reached icon status because the audience expects all the classic hits that have stood the test of time for decades. Lynyrd Skynyrd tried to meet this demand by blending songs together, but the transition from singing to talking felt rushed. I would've preferred to hear more recent songs performed in full. Singing in your 80's isn't the same as in your 50's, so it's understandable to expect limitations. The most surprising highlight was the impressive piano skills of his "little sis"! Additionally, the harmonica player was outstanding.
Alison Krauss and Union Station never fail to impress. Their focus on Appalachian music over pop was a delight, although some audience members seated behind us were unfamiliar with the genre and leaned towards the pop tunes instead.
